An Appeal to Alumni and Well-Wishers

Gujarat University is the oldest and biggest University of Gujarat State, founded in November 23, 1949, containing a students strength of more than 3 Lacs. The University appeals to all alumni and well-wishers to donate generously for its future advanced projects.

As the knowledge becomes more important in this economy, the higher education also assumes more power and importance than ever before. Educating more young people to a higher standard is a basic qualification for many skilled jobs. The quantity and quality of knowledge generated within higher education area is becoming a critical factor for nation’s competitiveness. In this respect, Gujarat University is playing a pivotal role in designing new courses, introducing new courses in backward and urban areas. Building capacities by affiliating more colleges and increasing the number of P.G. Centres.

In the coming years the University plans to augment more physical facilities in sports, hostels, automise and computerize University administration and examination etc., invest in technology to network the campus, plan to modernize the laboratories and class rooms. The University is planning to increase the manpower in both teaching and non-teaching and technical staff by filling up the existing vacancies and recruiting qualified personnel to take up the future challenges.

With the objective in view, the University wishes to set up a number of advanced research centers like Centre of Excellence, Department of Nanotechnology, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Defense, Information Centre, Examination Centre, Department of Education, Department of Management etc.

The University appeals to all alumni and well-wishers to donate generously for  the construction and maintenance of these buildings and for its research activities.

All such donations are exempt from income tax under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

We are very much thankful to Shri Vishnubhai Patel of Sadbhav Engineering Company for donating fund  for constructing a University Campus Wall at the cost of around Rs. 1 Crore in the year 2004.
